Just had a message from the seller of the rifle. Est Delivery to me W/C 10 March :bigsmile:

AND he just sent me a paper to sign confirming the mod. :D

and I can tell you, Duncan, from experience, that the rivets get lose and it's the devil's own job to tighten them, so much so that it was the practice in Base Workshops to send out a new bayonet with every rifle that had had a full rebuild.

Consequently, we ended up with boxes of bayonets that Ordnance refused to take off our hands.... so, after a suitable lapse of time the Armourer Sgt sold the lot to a gun shop that specialized in Militaria and we all had a nice Christmas bonus (Thank the Lord for the Statute of Limitations!!).
