The French, to show appreciation for the US entering the war at a critical time and crowning the victory issued a statement of thanks to every American soldier who participated in the effort.

This is the last post containing event details since the end of the Great War. It lists all entries to the final one on August 10 1920.

I hope that you have been as interested in the details as I have, some of which made me 'dfig deeper' into history to discover more about them.
Might to the same for WWII if I am still alive, I shall be 90 :loco: :loco: :loco: :loco:

Meanwhile the US Congress is arguing over the treaty. The biggest problem is fear that joining a league of nations will play hell with US autonomy and the US will be sucked into another European war. At the same time, the then "President" of Germany aint' happy with the state of the union...

The Navy was having a problem with what Admirals got medals and which not and who was handing them out and why. Some who were awarded high medals refused them on the grounds they were undeserved. Admiral Sims....not the Civil War Confederate Semmes..... appeared before a Congressional Committee investigating the Navy Department. Here was a somewhat surprising headline of the Admiral's testimony as to the Navy in 1917 before the US entered the war. He had been assigned to England and in subsequent remarks disparaged the department for not giving him enough subordinate officers.
