The package arrived today. Real surprise. Never seen such a magazine. I'll devote some time to them as I live in a Port City. Noticed one article showing a ship being built in Mobile by Austal . It's an American ship built by an Australian company with American workers in the US. Really futuristic looking ships for close to shore missions of some sorts. They have built several of them and continue to make more.

Thanks.

Those look like interesting magazines. Your photos of the shipyard reminds me of the time, in
1978 when I worked in a shipyard in Seattle building FFGs (Fast Frigates) for the Navy. Worked on
FFG-10, the USS Duncan. I installed pipe systems above the main deck, just below the white ball.
An interesting job for sure. Here is a photo of the Duncan, almost ready for sea trials, next to the
Australian Navy F-01 Adelaide. I remember our blueprints were blue (duh) and the prints for the Adelaide
were green, in case we were dumb enough to mix them up......
For some reason the steering wheel was on the wrong side of the Adelaide.......

The USS Duncan (FFG-10) was the fourth ship of the Oliver Hazard Perry-class of guided-missile frigates, and was named for Vice Admiral Donald B. Duncan. WOT! Not me?
Construction started: April 29, 1977
Launched: March 1, 1978
Draft: 6.71 m
Decommissioned: 17 December 1994
Homeport: Long Beach, California (former)
Builders: Vigor Shipyards, Todd Pacific Shipyards, Los Angeles Division

It was built at Todd Pacific Shipyards, later bought by Vigor, at the Seattle Division.
The first of her class to be struck, only in commission less that 15 years. Sold to Turkey
for parts. Guess I didn't build it right......
