The Bothezaat helicopter

Post by Niner » Tue Feb 21, 2023 9:37 pm

It was heralded as the first successful helicopter. Not real successful and it only worked in a headwind and it never got very far off the ground or stayed in the air longer than a couple of minutes. However this was a hundred years ago that the attached newspaper story was written. Twenty or so years later better versions of the helicopter were made. In less than fifty years from the Bothezaat, Huey's were inserting troops in all sorts of places nobody in his right mind would want to be in with amazing ease in Vietnam.
