Glad you are still looking at the site Ian. A real Colt is great to have. I've got a .357 by Heritage Arms out of Miami that was really made in Spain or Italy I imagine that isn't nearly as desirable.

Ha ha. There are not too many Colts here, I have been wanting one for years, but never any turned up. So, about a year ago I bought a new Ruger Blackhawk .45 convertible, has 2 cylinders, one .45 Colt, the other .45 ACP. No sooner had I bought it when the Colt turned up. A guy I know told me about it, the owner was an elderly guy who had a terminal illness. He used to live in Africa and carried the Colt for protection. Once he heard of my background, he sold the Colt to me at a rock bottom price, he said he was glad it was going to a good home. This is another one of my guns that I will never sell, I will pass it down to my nephew who is a keen shooter.

If you are living in Ireland...don't they have some of the same strict laws as England and Scotland about owning handguns? If I remember right you are a police officer so, if that's so, I'd guess you would get some consideration about owning personal handguns. How could you pass it down to a nephew legally?

We are still allowed handguns here, they did not ban them like they did in mainland UK. Our laws here are strict, you cannot get a licence for a handgun here unless you are in a police approved club. There are also people here who are allowed handguns for personal protection, but this is tightly controlled. My nephew also shoots and is in a club so there is no problem leaving the Colt to him.
