Surplus Firearms by Guns & Ammo

Post by Niner » Tue Sep 14, 2021 10:55 am

There were magazines dedicated to the C&R enthusiast back in the glory days of cheap to collect relics. I once upon a time had all the magazines. A check this morning and I'm missing a few that I knew I had once upon a time. Maybe I just misplaced them....or maybe they got tossed inadvertently.

The first Guns and Ammo special Surplus Firearms came out, I'd estimate, in 1991. They came out once a year, sometimes skipping a year, there after until about 2009.

Some scans starting with No. III from 1993.

I don't have any of the surplus firearms annuals, but I have just checked my book case and see I have 11 of the Guns & Ammo annuals. The earliest is 1977 and the last 1999 so a few are missing. I just had a flick through a couple and think I might have to have a re-read of them.
I was in a local gun shop today that deals in surplus military firearms among all the other stuff. They had 60 plus Lee-Enfield No.4 rifles and probably 15-20 SMLEs and Long Lees. They originally had 500 or so and these are the ones left. They were from the batch that came from the Italian Navy a few years ago. I think they were sold in Europe and didn't make it to the USA.
Regards
Peter.
