A Minister of the Crown takes up shooting (well, sort of!!).

Post by Aughnanure » Wed Mar 11, 2020 5:17 am

The Police Minister, being a bit brainless, posted a photo of himself firing a prohibited weapon when he was not licenced to do so; political rivalry soon reared its head.

"Minister Elliott has very serious questions to answer," Greens MP David Shoebridge said.

"We have tough firearms laws in this state providing hefty criminal penalties if you are holding or operating a firearm without an appropriate license and I'd invite him to put on the record if he held such a license."

Mr Shoebridge said it also showed a lack of judgement from a Minister in charge of law and order.

"You'd have to wonder what is going through the mind of a senior Minister … to go and pick up a lethal weapon like this without checking if they had a lawful capacity to do that," Mr Shoebridge said.

The link shows him firing and holding the magazine instead of the forward grip, which might be preferable but the instructor should have insisted on a proper hold. even if only because the range, which appears to butt against a perimeter wall of the prison has no overhead baffles to stop stray uncontrolled shots.
So it appears that the range doesn't comply with the law either.

The second picture shows just how pistol shooting should not be conducted.

The Minister is on record as having stated that firearms owners have no rights in respect to fair treatment by the Firearms Registry, which is under his control.

It probably will wash over him, Duncan, but it's fun while it lasts.

So it took them 2 years to get excited about him shooting the guns??
In the pistol photo, at least he is holding the gun properly. The guy in the middle
and the woman would be corrected by the instructor at my pistol club.......

I just looked at this post again and took a look at the link and something dawned on me. Isn't the "Minister" firing the pistol a couple of steps forward of the line on the pavement and the other two shooters standing on the line? Wouldn't that be against the rules?
