So Biden steps up to the plate

He was expected to take a mighty wack at the gun rights ball. He bunts a slow dribbler down the third base line with nobody on base and does the old man scamper to first. A success.... a sort of symbolic success for the people demanding Biden kiss their butt hurt gun phobia boo boo and make it better.

The measures he issued in a Presidential order don't excite. The biggest thing is that people making their own semi auto in the basement have to use parts with listed serial numbers and they now have to get a background check before beginning construction. And...... there were a few other odds and ends like making it easier for somebody to report a relative who has gone off his rocker to authorities to get a judgement to relieve said relative of his weapons until, or unless, he is judged to be in his right mind. This might provoke more upset.... particularly with veterans drawing PTSD checks for events that may or may not cause them to be deranged and needing the comfort of money.....and guns.

I'm sure various people with one ax to grind or the other will be upset over ramifications of these gestures on both sides of the gun question. However, the rules and regulations that may really hurt, and something Biden can't produce by fiat as President, depends on what he can get a split opinion Senate to do. When that legislation comes along we all will be paying attention as that is when the real arguments will rise to the surface.
