A 95 year old woman wwas tasered twice by NSW Police when she refused to drop a steak knife and advabced on them with the aid of her walking frame.

Me too, on the gobsmacked. A nursing home qualified to take care of senile patients shouldn't have had to call the police in the first place. Police tend to think every incident is a matter for some kind of physical force if those they are trying to control don't respond to commands immediately. I'd bet that ladies next of kin will be sorting through a bunch of lawyers that are lining up outside their doors with money to be made on their minds and that nursing home and that police department better have deep pockets.

In the US more and more police forces are being encouraged, or otherwise being forced by outrage, to add res-ponders who are trained in dealing with people with mental conditions.
