"Spare Ribs"

Post by Niner » Wed Nov 17, 2021 10:06 pm

I cooked some ribs on the BBQ tonight. The thought crossed my mind of the term "spare ribs" and I wasn't sure what that meant as a name. It wasn't like a pig had some spare ones he didn't need. Then I looked it up.

Baby back ribs come from the parts of the ribs that are connected to the backbone, beneath the loin muscle, and are curved where the meet the spine. ... Spare ribs are cut from the ends of baby back ribs and run along to the pig's breast bone.

I had "spare ribs" tonight.
