Stevens Model 107

Post by Niner Delta » Mon Oct 24, 2022 7:11 pm

This week I was given (yes, free) a Stevens Model 107 12ga single shot break open. Rough shape and rust covered.
Took me a while to figure out what it was as most markings have been smoothed over by surface rust.
The stock has pieces missing and some cracks, but probably shootable. But from what I have read, modern
shells may be too powerful for this gun. It was made between about 1905 and 1915, pre-WWI for sure. As with
many records, a fire destroyed most of Stevens early serial number records. The only bluing I could find was
under the front handgrip. The bore isn't as bad as I thought it would be, quite shiny in fact. It was about the
cheapest Stevens shotgun at the time, sold new for $6 at one time. It has the shell ejector that really works,
opened it up and popped the shell half way across my shop. It has no collector value and prices I found were
less than $200 for one in much better shape. The only difference between the model 105 and 107 is the automatic
shell ejector. It will just sit in my closet and be one more thing my son has to deal with when I'm gone ..... but the
price was right and worth every penny I paid for it. .......

Peace is that brief, quiet moment in history.......... when everybody stands around reloading.

Now that's a true curio and relic. Might be one you hang on the wall as is.
