The Minox CD 112. A 38 to 112 auto zoom camera. It was listed at $319 back in 1996 when it was introduced. I got this one today for $15 plus $6 postage. Put some film in it… Kentmere 100.
The Verdict is mixed. Needs a viewer diopter control in the worst way for one thing. Auto focus does not actually lock on what is in the center of the view screen and a sharp photo is hit and miss. When you fully engage the taking button the camera does a sort of buzz vibration for a fraction of a second before the shutter clicks. And…unlike the Minox pocket camera tradition, you would need a big pocket for this one and it is actually a little thicker than other offerings in like cameras of the time. But…on the plus side….it has multiple flash choices including fill flash. You can put a date or time on your negative…which is something I always turn off. And the self portrait mode is just a one click button. No need for some other selection or having to press the normal shutter button. Is it worth $15? Yes. Is it worth more than $15? Not to me.
