M1911 and M1911A1

Post by Niner » Fri Apr 22, 2022 9:50 am

I saw this post on facebook showing a WWII British soldier showing his M1911 lend lease pistol. It was the M1911 and not the M1911A1 so I went looking for the differences between the original M1911 and the later modified A1. Then....one thing leading to another I pulled out my 1911 clones. The top one in the photo is a Colt Sistema made on Colt Machinery and made as the Model 1927 in Argentina. It's exactly the same as the US made M1911A1 and made under Colt engineer inspection. The second one down is the Ballister Molina. It looks like a M1911 but no grip safety and made in Argentina as a cheaper police model. The last, unlike the others, isn't 45acp but 9mm. It was made in Spain as a Star B and doesn't have the grip safety either.

The Sistema has new rubber grips...not as issued.

This is my Spanish Llama C/F .45 1911 "wannabe". It is shorter than most as it is the C/F compact frame.
It functions fine but not a top of the line pistol. As you can see by the serial number, it was made in 1997.

:USA:

Peace is that brief, quiet moment in history.......... when everybody stands around reloading.
