Just ordered a 2A

Post by Brass Rat » Mon Jul 17, 2006 6:24 am

I rarely see them for sale in this area so when I opened up AIM's web site last night and had them being offered for $169I went ahead and ordered one.

I think that is the last of the inexpensive Enfield rifles that I needed, now for the Long Lee's. $$$

And then maybe a "REAL" Martini Enfield. $$$

I would love to have on of the Martini Henry's that are available for $600-700 right now but $6 a piece for brass is a bit steep for me.

Lucky sod. Having Enfields mail-order from major suppliers must be great.

I wouldn't mind one but the only place that seems to have them on a regular basis wants a premium over NoI's.

On the bright side a gunsmith over here has acquired a cache of over 1,000 complete firearms and about 2,000 major components. Have already perused the preliminary list and I'm aiming at a Martini Cadet or Martini Enfield.

I ordered one also

I have a 2A1 already, but the general run of 2A's and 2A1's dried up in recent years. From what you read on other sites this batch won't likely last long, judging from the number of people that say they have placed their order.

Warner, don't know how you are going to get one from AIM... they are in Ohio. But if you do, please report on how you did it.

Oh the dilemma of it all.

Keep it to myself and increase my chances (marginally) of getting what I want versus tell Warner and decrease my chances (marginally) of getting what I want ?

Naked greed versus simple good manners.

Be a sorry old place if we just looked out for number one wouldn't it ?

Warner, I don't think he advertises in Sporting shooter, at least not regularly. Here is the link -

http://www.thegunsmiths.com.au/news.html

He did have a downloadable Excel file (which I naturally downloaded) but that doesn't appear to be there anymore.

If anyone is interested let me know and I will email it to you.

got mine today

It's a 2A and not a 2A1, which is good, since I already have the newer version. Plenty of black paint and a dark coat of varnish. But.. the numbers match including the magazine. A few minor stock repairs and the bore looks very good.

Looks like they were imported by Numrich.

Graeme,

Thanks for the link :D

The odds in your favour have just dropped a little further.

Seems an interesting site.
