Austrian rear sight base. It is not all that common to see these but not super rare to encounter on a Finn either.

This is the first one I have seen and I haven’t seen anymore on the Internet.

But I'm sure your right about the rareness of it.

All kidding aside (as I am just kidding above).... I should have stated that better as this is rare indeed. What I should have said it was more common to see on Finns than on non Finns. I assume that most of these ended up in Finland so seeing these without SA marks or on say a Tikka or VKT is not something one comes across often.

I will check as I think that I have one of these in my collection but I can not recall for sure. Examples of these have been posted on Gunboards in the past and I would bet there is a photo of this base in KH's book (volume one or two) Nice item and a very good find. Always fun to add something new to the collection.
