Nice collection! Too bad about the bubba factor though. I have seen a lot of those for sale in B.C. Apparently good cheap .303s were sold extensively as surplus and ended up as good cheap deer/elk/moose guns. A lot of people do not realize that the venerable .303 has taken every example of big game in North America.
Enfield, anything else is just a rifle.

I see you have a No1Mk1 variant with an ER serial number. I picked up one of those last summer, and I am sad to say have yet to fire a shot through it. Whats the actual story behind those, and where did your rifle come from (LSA, BSA etc)?
Interesting Bubba, with the short forend and the long barrel. I guess if you can't shoot straight, you can always bludgeon it to death

yes , a mkI*** , it is an ER#5346 reworked for irish i believe , mine is a 1905 LSA original sn#36299 , ive not checked my watkins/speed backsight for recalibration[it 'looks' to have been] but most everything else seems in keeping with the LOC ,
i have a decent EFD P1903 bayo dated 1905 as well , they seem to enjoy each others company in the cabinet

I wonder if a batch were taken. Mine is ER6055, a 1906 LSA mk1***. As I said, I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but shes a nice old thing, and seems content to sit in the back of the gun cabinet.
Now all I have to do is convince the police that said gun cabinet belongs with me, and not with the gun club, and I'll be a happier man

Source for carbine fore arm
Tonsper, nice collection! I too have gathered up some 'custom' sporters here in Ontario. Perhaps Bubba has a cousin?
Looking at your carbines, I see that the wood has been abreviated a bit but the original length barrel remains. Just so happens that I have a LEC barreled action that is a current project.
I was sitting looking at it and wondering where I could find a fore arm and butt. I have other similar carbines but in original condition to use as a reference, so I started to measure things out.
So here is a tidbit of info i'd like to share. You probably already know. The barrel profile on the LEC is the same as the Sht LE. Same nocks form length and taper, same barrel diameter and taper.
So as an experiment, I dropped my LEC Mk.1* carbine action into a SMLE forearm just to see if it would fit the barrel channel. It did!
The reciever and trigger guard drop right in too, perfect!
Measuring a Rigby the nosecap, I determined that there is enough meat to shave the SMLE unit down to carbine profile. The cutouts for SMLE handguard clips, sight protectors and charger bridge would need to be filled, but the piece I would cut off the front end to shorten would provide perfect matching wood for the patching. Done carefully it would be difficult to see. Also an SMLE front handguard can be cut and modified into a carbine style too. So I think that it can be done, just time and effort.
So I have yet another project lined up for this winter sitting by the wood stove (yup, it gets cold in northern Ontario too). I just so happen to have an old walnut Sht LE woodset that Bubba sanded to death that I can use. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Look to your front, mark your target when it comes.
