New Santa Fe Enfield
At an auction last night I was was pre-sale browsing the offered wares. On a table I saw a beautifully sporterized Enfield with a 5 round magazine.Closer inspection confirmed to me that it was indeed a No. 4 sporterized by Santa Fe Arms. All parts matched and the bore was an absolute mirror.Overall a very very fetching piece. When it came up I was bidding against two others who made really low ball opening bids.I jumped their initial low ball by a quick $50 and scared them right off.I did bring the rifle home and and very happy that I now have three of the eleven models of Enfields that Golden State made.

Upon further examination...
I found that the front sight is marked "Parker Hale".The barrel appeared thicker than a No. 4 so I miked it and a No.4 barrel and the Santa Fe barrel is thicker by 12/1000th.This was also the case with my other Santa Fe which is a 1941 Supreme model.
I also took off the forearm and it is obviously a replacement. There was no relief cut out for the bolt release to depress.I had to make one.
I am getting more and more intrigued with the Santa Fe Models.
As far as pictures..the only way I can make that happen is to get my buddy DOG over to take some and post them for me.
