The country that avoids war and the country that fights but has a hard time winning have been combined. The Swiss made some excellent firearms and the French made some unique and occasionally inspiring ones. We have added the Belgian and Dutch since they are neighbors.

Hmmm. The silence is deafening. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START

Looks like it will be a three man race, Phil. Well, that is if I ever receive the bullet moulds and loading dies that I ordered. I am hoping that they arrive before my first Social Security check.

We can start off with a 3 man shoot...that's fine with me<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START

--><img src=

In the meantime...I think I'll convert another 78/81....I've been shooting and toying with a not-so-prime example.

Hey 6mm-Intl. Welcome to the forums. Really glad to see somebody with an interest in Swiss rifles. It's been a while since this forum has had much activity.

Seems that if you look at the firearms development when the first Vets were rolling off prodution lines they were way ahead of there time in firepower for a military machine. I shoot 200 meter silouette every month with mine and it always is a joy to shoot and draws a lot of interest.
I bought a suplus six cavity mold from Lee for a .434 diameter flat nose heeled bullet of 280 grains and then opened up the heel band to .434 with a reamer and it is a geat bullet to load and shoot, .430 44 mag bullets do not shoot well being harder and lacking a crimp band. Favorite load is 22 grains of sr 4759 and alox/moly lubed bullet. I have also tried the same bullet with 40 grains of Swiss 1.5 and SPG lubed bullet for a nice load the is accurate and easy on fouling.
I machined a older British enfield windage adjustable sight to fit in the rea sight and made a new higher front ight for a very usable sight setup on my 69/71, also have the higher front sight and a Swenson micrometer rear sight mounted on a Refield side mount on my 78/81 for more precise shooting.
I have converted three to centerfire and they are easy to do if you have the right equipment. I have a mill and lathe in my garage.
Im sitting on a 70% 69/71 with a bad bore that im thinking of rebuilding if a barrel was available (there not) so now im thinking of parting it out after deciding it would not be cost effective to reline the barrel.
Used to be a highpower/smallbore shooter (master) but gave that up in 2000 to concentrate on silouette, and now milsurp silouette and blackpowder..

6MM-Intl, this forum used to be one of the most active once at the old site, but the orginal moderator departed for parts unknown and when he did most of the rest drifted away too. Kind of a shame. But... if you post something... they will come....or somebody will come.
I got one K31 and one , really piece of junk Vetterli , wish I hadn't bought the particular Vetterli, doesn't even have the proper sights, but you buy on impulse sometimes....at least I sometimes do.
Bet the experience of shooting your Vetterli is something to remember. I envy you that experience. Maybe I'll get another some day.

Hey 6mm, with your reloads are you able to use the magazine or do you shoot single shot? Every one I've run across has to be shot as a single.

I can use the magazine but most of the competition I shoot requires single load.
I bought one of the group buy vetterli molds but have not received it yet, the bullet appears longer so will see if it will mag feed. If its a better bullet I will probably take it out to the 200-500 meter military silouette matches shot prone off of a reat in Sacramento. The bullet im shooting now is more like a trash can shape but shoots real well out to only 200 meters.
