THE CADET.

Yes, it took a while but it's finally in my grubby little paws.

Even after I convinced the wife (a fact she now denies) that I desperately needed it and sent off the application for a PTA (permit to acquire) under the new system there was still a 20 day wait. The new system does away with the need for a 28 day waiting period if you already possess at least one rifle in the appropriate category. Usually with posting, processing and the 28 day wait you waited about 6 weeks, so 20 days is better.

Nice rifle. Fun rifle. Plenty of sources for material to make it shoot in your area. Non better than than bullet mould CBE makes for the Cadet. I assume you knew that as well as knowing about heeled bullets.

I have one of them unfortunatelly my barrel hasnt got any squiglly lines in it like yours.

Don't know about that barrel mind Graeme, looks a bit pitted to me. I'm sure that you can do better than that.

Tell you what, send it over here to me, no problem as its an antique/obsolete calibre and I'll go halfies with you on the postage.

You'll have space for a better one and I'll have one to keep Dave company with as both mine shoot brilliantly.

Is that extractor spring loaded or is it linked to the lever?

Very nice looking rifle!

I looked at some M-H's and Snyders from that palace in Nepal over at Atlanta Cutlery but 6 or 7 hundred dollars is getting harder to part with now a days.

Adam, in answer to your question. After considerable (in the millisecond range) thought about your generous offer - no. A semantic aside - my wife also uses the expression "halfies" which irritates me no end having been brought up on the proper aussie expression of "go ya halves".

My gunsmith, whom I occasionally refer to as a bastard (classic example - I'm picking up the Cadet and he hauls his latest acquisition [No4T] out of the safe for me to inspect - bastard) threw in a packet of .310 ammo, 1977 vintage, so got that part covered only need to find out when the other ranges around here have their practice days.

I'm fairly sure the extractor is lever actuated but will need to drop the internals out to check - fortunately a one screw job with this model.

Thanks DD, could you post one with the block in battery?

The camming action of the lever tip seems way simplier than I would have guessed.

With that design I would assume that when you operate that lever smartly the brass should clear the breech.
