SEEMS REASONABLE
POLK COUNTY FLORIDA SHERIFF GRADY JUDD
An illegal immigrant in Polk County Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended up 'executing' the deputy who stopped him.
The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at
close range. Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed..
A state wide manhunt ensued.
The murderer was found hiding in a wooded area with his gun.
After he shot at them, SWAT team officers open fired and hit the guy 68 times.
Now here's the kicker:
Naturally, the liberal media went nuts and asked why they shot the poor undocumented immigrant 68 times.
Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel:
(Talk about an all-time classic answer.)
'Because that's all the ammunition we had.'

Re: SEEMS REASONABLE
This really doesn't belong in the after hours funny's, because it's sad and true. Move it to shooting the breeze.
The Sheriff should take his Deputy's back to the range. 68 hits out of 110 shots!!!

Re: SEEMS REASONABLE
You have point there DoubleD. However, it might look like we were calling attention to the fact that the officers were shooting the breeze about a third of the time and not taking careful aim.

Re: SEEMS REASONABLE
Every once in a while one of these stories turn out to be true, although it did happen in 2006.
There were 9 SWAT members shooting at him, so the average hits per shooter is 7.5, so they weren't carrying revolvers.
So even if they were carrying semi-auto pistols (much more likely a M-16 variant) they had ammo left over.
So that means...uh.......um...............
Never mind, I'm over-thinking it again.

Re: SEEMS REASONABLE
This reminds me of a happening in Queensland a couple of years ago.
A man weilding a Samurai sword was confronted by police who tried to subdue him with capsicum spray or some such but it apparently only made him angrier. A Seargent then pulled a paling from a fence and laid it to the side of the offenders head with sufficient force to draw blood, besides disabling him.
Next day the civil libertarians were in full bay because of 'un-necessary police violence' and the media were questioning a Police Spokesman and obviously out for blood themselves. The following is as near as I can remember the TV clip.
"Was it right to hit the man with a paling?"
"No, I don't think so".
"Could the Sergeant have used a better method ?"
"Definitely".
"What should he have done?"
"Shot him".
Sudden end to interview.

Re: SEEMS REASONABLE
Mongomery County and Prince George's County surround part of Washington DC. A few years ago the Washington Post aka The Daily Worker ran a story about police firing their weapons in the line of duty.
They found that in the previous year Montgomery County law enforcement officers had fired their weapons 162 times resulting in 7 fatalities. In Prince George's County the officers had fired 52 times resulting in 51 fatalities.
The conclusion of the story was that it was much more dangerous to live in Montgomery County because the police used their weapons more than three time as often. I know which county I'd be more likely to commit a crime in.
