Very nicely done Ned, but as an American and a collector of fine Enfields, the photos of the stock look a little off color, could there be a possibility that you mixed too much Vegemite with the BLO or were you using O.P. Bundy as a coloring agent? It looks to be one of the rare Irish Contract models.

Did emergency rate out the back of a carrier one day with 3 inch ammo !!! Thats 20rds flat out, times that by 6 tubes firing and its a bit of bang at the other end !!
Also did a rebuild/enactment of firebase Coral over a couple of weeks out the back of the range. Got flown in etc , etc. Arty came in and there was a lot bangs going on as well.

Pte. Cuthbertson 3RAR Mortar Pl in 1954 in Korea, firing in the open ,3" on a ground mount put 23 in the air and badly cut the back of the fingers of his left hand on the fins of the departing aforesaid 23 as he was about to drop No24.
He was never as fast again
Maybe we should raise this on Veterans Remember, there ought to be some good stories there.
