You boys couldn't be rednecks
In the south there is a tradition of watching cars drive around a track real fast. Dale was as famous as they come doing it. He died while racing in a crash at Daytona.

NASCAR stock cars = highly modified saloon cars
NASCAR= National Association of Stock Car Racing:
3400 pound ([?] kgs and don't ask about 'stones'), 750 BHP, 200 MPH (~280< KPH) on 10" (~26 cm) wide (skiny) racing tires. They normally race on oval tracks, but at Watkins Glen,NY (ex F1 track) or Sears Point (PRK) the cars behave a-boma-bully(?) as the drivers try to 'heal and toe', shift and turn right!
When I was a member of SCCA's flag team at Riverside Raceway (another ex-F1 track), I saw Dale Earnhardt connect turn #2 to turn #4's 'S curve' without ever touching the pavement at Turn #3; Ironhead copied that tactict from the origional... we called it 'The (Richard) Petty Line'... but thay never got blacked flaged for it!
Dan Gurney (the ONLY American driver to win a F1 race in his own car... AAR Eagle!) drove NASCAR at RIR, and HE was the only driver who mastered those unwealdly race cars at Riverside. He won four out of his four races run in his Ford.
superspeadways= paved two mile or over banked tracks that are three or more lanes wide.
road course= race track with left and right corners plus multi elevation course i.e. Goodwood or Silverstone.
short track= 1/2 to one mile dirt or paved track. Cars use high rear-end gear ratios < 6.00 to 1
Hope this helps you Brits understand NASCAR;
