To play devils advocate.... am I hearing that woman say that if she gives a woman patient over 74 a mammogram she could be fined, fired, and go to jail? I think if the Obama care thing has something to say about mammograms it is more likely to be about paying for them. I doubt seriously that woman would be giving any mamograms if she wasn't paid....or if it cost her anything at all in time or money.

My gripe with Obama care is that it doesn't go far enough for some people that may need some medical care as this radiology physician says.....less the jail and fine stuff which I doubt is true. The Republicans, contrary to what some Democratic warbler said at the last convention, want to have status quo plus an alternate choice of vouchers.

The whole health care thing is a bad joke made worse by a Congress with no common sense and two prospects for President with no grasp of the problems that exist or what needs to be done to arrive at a better system.

The only winners in the health care fight are the big buck insurance companies.... either party that rises to the top.

as i have medicare(69yrs old) and tri care for life (21 yrs military) i don't need or want any health care system or mine messed with.

Kermit, I'm not far behind you in age. I just turned 67. Military health care is one of the growth industries for the national debt and probably outpaces the indigent care in growth rate. The present administration was even talking about changing, and drastically reducing, the long standing health care benefit policy for people in the military and their dependents as well as affecting to some extent the retirees. The latest "warriors" , although not being killed quick enough in combat to provoke public outrage over the continuing conflict in Afghanistan and elsewhere, are going on multiple tours and coming back with some real PTSD from the revolving tours. And the ones that lose body parts from roadside bombs and mines are still adding up and will require both physical and mental adjustment help for a lot of years to come. And this doesn't add in the cost of a broad and growing base of military related "disability checks". And on top of the fast growing claims by recent vets old Vietnam Vets are getting more and more into the system with the kind of things we get in old age anyway.... only now tied to Agent Orange and PTSD. These guys I know about from talking to a lot of them.

I'm with you on the don't want to see anything change ...negatively. And while we are talking about change....what are they going to do about Social Security? How would that play against the Republican "vouchers"?

i know i started paying into social security in sept 61 and stopped paying in to it in 2009. medicare since 1966? and some useless idiot thinks it =ss and medicare is a freebie for/to me.arrrgh ,but then you in same boat as i am.

My wife just gave me a copy of what BlueCross BlueShield paid of a recent bill of mine. I'm still able to be added to my wife's better insurance rather than use Medicare because with small cost I can have the better insurance as a benefit from her employer. BC/BS paid a total of $178.26 of a bill that was submitted at $750.00. The $178.26 was accepted as payment in full. BC/BS has the providers under their thumb. Now if I was uninsured... I guess I would have gotten the full bill and been expected to pay up. What Medicare would have paid would have been a lot less than $178.26 I'd guess and I would have had some more to pay.

The biggest thing that is wrong with health costs is the out of balance billing system caused by insurance deals with providers.

Having to pay for medical care or take out insurance must be a night mare.
Luckilly I live in the UK all medical care is free no matter who you are.
Over the last couple of years all the medical problems I have had have been taken care off and it has cost me nothing.

They are free Duncan I am over 60 years old when you reach 60 you dont pay for any thing.
