When Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space, interest in him was enormous. All the big statesmen invited him.
His first stop, naturally, was in Moscow, with Chairman Khrushchev. At the end of the function, the Chairman took
the cosmonaut aside for a one-on-one talk:

"When up there, did you see, ahem, God?" -
"Certainly, Comrade Chairman!" -
(furtively) "Not a word of this to anyone. You'll get promotion, a dacha and a big American car. But if one word leaks out...Siberia!"

Next stop Washington DC. At the end of the reception, the President takes the cosmonaut aside.

"Up there, did you see God?" -
"Yes, Mr President." -
(beaming) "You'll get an American pension, and if you like you can apply for citizenship right away..."

"She's black."
