Re: Schmidt Rubin, Model G11
Think what you may have is a Kurzgerwehr M1900 that was converted to the 1911 configuration. Done by Eidgenössische Waffenfabrik in 1913-20. "Accepting 7.5mm Ordonnanz 11 cartridges, they had four-groove rifling". The reason I think this is because the front sight sits further back from the muzzle and doesn't have the big sight ears. Re: Schmidt Rubin, Model G11
Hi hi!
You are bidding on an 1896/11.
The Swiss upgraded their ammo from GP90 to GP11 (7.5X55mm). They were able convert the older 1896 rifle to the new round by replacing the barrel, sights, magazine and some other things. At this time they also grafted a pistol-grip onto the stock. If you look close you can see the grain change at the grip.
I also have a 96/11 and it is lots of fun. The bolt is old world engineering and sounds wonderful.

Re: Schmidt Rubin, Model G11
Ha ha. Helping helps.
Here are some helpful pics of Renata, my 96/11.
The rifle sight is set up with 300M as the lowest setting. So you'll find that it probably will be hitting high at 100 if your loading replicates the military load.
The butt plate is strange and convex at the the bottom. Sir Mix-a-Lot would like this rifle.
If somebody asks you if the barrel is free-floating you'll be able to say it's sleeved.
Somewhere in its life the rifle in the auction had its bolt grips replaced. These were made of bakelite. They could turn brittle and so a replacement is not something to worry about. You can just see that the ones in the auction are (at least the top one but I bet they were just switched out together) two piece. See the little line around the top of the cylinder shape. Here is a pic if Renata's original ones.
Whew!
