This is a cartoon from a hundred years ago but did you ever meet up with a stranger and then the stranger wants to try this do you know thing, that's pretty much human nature, at a time that is not the right time.....

Re: One image cartoons
I saw this facebook video about US Navy boot camp the other day. New recruit clothing and gear issue was the topic. They get a choice among three or so brands of tennis shoes for PT. They have all sorts of running clothes to be more stylish as well including shorts and T shirts. It's likely the other services do something along the same lines. However...."Boot Camp".....used to mean only boots in the US services. No running shorts or other special clothing. I guess when you have an all volunteer force you have to treat the employees better or word will get out and spoil already lacking recruitment goals.

Re: One image cartoons
Back in our day, PT was fatigues (without fatigue shirt) and boots. Yup, we ran the mile or more
in combat boots as that was the only choice. We wore fatigues and boots all day, every day, since we
weren't allowed to have any civilian clothes in basic. The fun never stopped back then.......
Those kids today would cry and go home if they had to do what we did. ....

Re: One image cartoons
We had boots only in recruit training and some people had sore feet till they hardened up/broke the boots in.
I was fortunate in that an ‘old digger’ gave us the tip of filling our boots with water at every opportunity, the boots quickly fit our feet and we had no trrouble.
