I don't collect them as such. I do have one that I had as a kid. Came across it the other day and went looking online to see if anybody still had any Big Klu first baseman's glove that they were selling. And..... surprising to me.... there were lots of them. The prices ranged from $25 to over a hundred. What's surprising is that Ted Kluszewski was a first basement for the Cincinnati Reds for most of the 1950's and then was traded around for a few years in the 1960's. Today's ball players weren't even born when he played. He had a good batting average and famously wore a uniform shirt without any sleeves. A muscle shirt with permission. The reason he was allowed was he had upper arms and shoulders like the Amazing Hulk and a normal uniform shirt would limit his swing...to say nothing of destroying the shirt .
Here are are a few photos. The one that looks like it was used and abused and dug out of the garbage is mine. The good as new one is being offered for $125. Also one thing to note is that the glove I have is actually smaller than the one Ted used.....a kid's model I'd guess. Ted couldn't have gotten his hand in it.
