And wouldn't a sniper use a long barrel rifle, maybe he should pull the hammer back before he fires? ....
That modern scope has mounts that would put the rifle butt under his armpit. ....
The sling looks like it will fit around the horse's neck and hang from the saddlehorn.

Re: Whitworth Rifle..........
Well, appart from the picture and the description it is correct The trials rifles at the time only shot to 900 yards and the Enfield P53 that was used as the rifle to shoot for the military couldn't produce regular groups past 600 yards!
Because of the cost of the Whitworth it was never adopted by the British Army and went on to be used for target shooting, mainly by Volenteers.......

Re: Whitworth Rifle..........
Managed to find some workshop time and made a new rammer.
8mm dia aluminium tube. made a hex guide that spins freely when introduced to the barrel. It is mounted on a countersunk headed stud which is captive in the aluminiul tube with two split studs. The nylon washers pevent the guide from sticking on the aluminium.

Looks like you invented a solution to the ramrod for the spiraling twist. I've made a couple regular loading rods for my BP rifles. One was fiberglass and the other was a hickory rod that I soaked in tung oil to toughen it up and added a round wood knob on one end and a brass ball pusher on the other. On mine I put a ring of tape around the shank to mark when a favored charge would be fully seated.
