Dads Martini -Henry Mk IV
My dad procured this rifle in 1968 for the princely sum of $16.75 along with 30 rounds of Kynoch 577/450 ammo. He spent the morning cleaning it up and that afternoon we took it down to the range and tried it out. Needless to say we got everyone's attention when the 1st round went down range and he shot up 20 rds that day before his shoulder said enough was enough. The rifle went home and hung above the fireplace for close to 30 years until my parents sold their house at which time I bought it from him, with the remaining 10rds of ammo for a c-note.
It has spent over 25 years in my collection and since it is going this weekend to a military rifles shoot I am attending I figured I would get it out, wipe it down and get some pics before it possibly ends up in someone else's collection.

It's worth more than your dad paid for it....even when multiplying with the inflation rate to see how much in value it has climbed. No telling that rifle's history. Not one of those Neapolitan/Indian as found specials either.

That appears to be a Type 'B'. The knoxform should measure 1.16" and it should have a ramp foresight.
Price over here for the condition of the metal would be around $600 - $800

A quote comes to mind................ ""And don't forget. That isn't your Martini you have. It belonged to others before you and will belong to others after you are gone. Look after it, and pass it on with pride. It deserves it." M. Cobb, The Martini Henry Note-book"
