Took my M39 to a range today

Post by Niner » Wed Nov 02, 2005 8:31 pm

It was crowded, even in the twenty miles from nowhere country. But it's hunting season just about here time, so there were all the once a year guys zeroing.

I got to the rifle firing line. I set up my spotting scope and got all set. And I sat there for a little while and I could see it was going to be a while before I'd have a chace to go down range. So I got my scope dialed in and looked at a 100 yard target that had been abandoned on my firing number backstop. The previous shooter did no better than four inches from the center by any of the holes in it. So I put in a round of the copper wash spam can ammo in my M39 Finn and pulled the trigger slowly. Bang. Then I look though the scope. Dead center of a target with a one inch center! Then I fired off a few more and shot a nice tight group well within the scope of what the guy before me shot on the target he left behind. Kind of fun.

Its a good feeling aint it that rush you get when it all goes right and you get that nice tight group.

Nice one.

The most fun a man can have with his clothes on as far as Im concerned.

I took my '42 Sako to the MSA match 2 weekends ago, I wish I could say I shot nice tight groups, but no cigar. :|

A M39 is definately on my Christmas List. My worst one (my best is a 1895 Tula/Sako with a mirror bore and 100% finish) is all of our favorite mil surp to shoot.

I'm looking for a good M39 shooter for a cheaper price, but with WGA not selling C&R's it hard to find any M39's.

I hope WGA can get their 01FFl again;

Thanx Dante' :CA: :salute:

I found the mirror at a wrecked race car at California (AAA) Speedway

Right now there is a lot of good as well as cheap surplus Nagant Ammo out there. Wish the same could be said for the Enfield .303 ammo.

Aim has some "shooter" grade M39's on their site, as well as several more step up condition and price selections. Still about twice as much as I paid for either of mine...but supply and demand has an affect on pricing.
