An invitation!

Post by Strangely_Brown » Wed Jan 25, 2006 2:14 pm

Gentlemen, may I ask you to follow this link http://www.icons.org.uk/nom/nominations ... ield-rifle

and vote for the greatest rifle ever used by Great Britain in two world conflicts and numerous back street policing actions over a period of almost seventy years.

I notice two of the people that have commentated are known to me at Bisley!

'Tis done,

However I would argue that it is an icon of Britain and the commonwealth rather than England.

The acton was designed by a Scot and as a military arm it was used by many other than the english.

Still I suppose when you are the only one of the 4 Kingdoms that is cultrurally uncertain of your identity then these sites are necessary, sad really.

Mick,

More than happy to vote---although I admitted I was an American, so it might be annulled.

Okay, my vote's in for the Enfield. Close run thing, though: the old blue passport almost got my vote instead.
