First Mosin M-44

Post by amerkinsquid » Thu Feb 09, 2006 7:00 am

Here are a few pics of my first M-44 Carbine. I paid about $80 for it. I have to get a new trigger spring for it, that is enroute as you read this. I can't wait to shoot it.

Hope the boy doesn't swing around suddenly and take out the china shelf... :D

I just got one like yours as well. Too cheap to pass up. Recent batch of re-furb's. Bolt face is un-fired. Had to pay extra for the sling/oiler and such.So have gone with the sale. Dealers here keep and then sell them

separately.

good looking gun and cool letting your kids hold it. i wasnt allowed to touch a gun until i left home but yet dad had guns in the house..

now all you need is for the boy to turn around and stab the tv with the bayonet " hey mommy! look what i got! " ( crashing sounds and lots of colorful language)

Thanks Momma. I am currently teaching both my children proper firearms safety and my son knows what and where he can point ANY gun, incluning water pistols and cap guns.

It is well that you are teaching your kids safe gun handling; However, they are both voilating Rule #2, Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire. Other than that nice pics, they seem to enjoy holding your Mosin. :D

kids and guns

I like the idea of these kids being familiar with guns. It takes the mystery out of it, which is one of the first steps of Child gun safety.

Good job Dad!

This is a good thing. As a young boy it was cumpulsory for all young boys to undergo firearms training and shooting classes at least once a month. We started with air rifles and after many years to the Kalishnakov rifles with some in the middle like a longer Nagant.

I have 2 M44's...both Russian Izzy's...all number stamped matching...

1 is a '44 Laminate stocked

1 is a '48 Hardwood

Both very pretty...I got the last one 2 weeks ago at a gunshow just as I was walking out with nothing but Swiss GP11 ammo for my 2 K31's

$80 and she was mine....the postwar receivers are nice and smoothly polished...had more time to make them without the Nazi's breathing down their necks!

I've shot the '44 but not the '48...

The '44 was a total blast with the Czech 44 grn practice ammo and the 147 grn Czech Silvertip!

Both have near perfect bores and the '48 is not counterbored. :D

My '44 lammy:

Crappy pic but you get the idea.
