I was looking at a YouTube video covering the use of 24g plastic shotgun cases for loading round ball and the method shown for cutting down the cases to 2" seemed a bit laborious....
So, I had a think and came up with this. Others may already do it but I have never seen anything like it myself. ( It may be of use to others in different circumstances hence the post )
As a possible improvement I thought of making an aluminium plate with a 16mm hole to fit on the cutting surface so that it would be impossible to deform the wood with the knife. I would reduce the thickness of the block accordingly.
Well, there you have it - no measuring every case, no worries about cutting an angle and no danger of shortening your finger by rolling the case on the knife blade.

Progress being made

.
The press and the mold have arrived and I have sold my Benelli Montefeltro Semi-Auto which put funds in the bank..........
There are 2 Sniders for sale on NaturaBuy at the moment, an 1868 Mk:II for €1050
and an 1870 Mk:III for €950, both BSA.
However, there is a big Antique Gun Fair in Poitier on the 22nd of next month which I can get to so I will wait and see if I can find anything there first.

I'd try to find a Naval 2-bander with 1:48 twist barrel, rear sight is easier to use and usually much more accurate.

I already have the Pedersoli copy of the Enfield 2 band Naval percussion rifle with that twist and it is very accurate. Not going to rush this one, see what there is in Poitier

After some very helpful comments on the British Militaria Forums (where I go to learn about these things

) it is obvious that this is an amalgamation of different parts and although the price is very interesting, the cost of replacing the parts that are wrong ( front band, nose cap and cleaning rod plus a dodgy stamping on the lock )
make this a no no.
Back to the drawing board so to speak..............

It's got enough proof marks on it. I'm happy for you. Hope the seller doesn't wait too long to send it to you while giving the check time to clear.

It's a legal contract recorded on the auction site plus in France it is illegal to write a cheque with insufficient funds to clear it. If you do the Bank of France will stop your account and prevent you from opening another for between 3 & 5 years so that means no Cheques, no Bank Card, no PayPal - nothing............and they do it. Plus, your address is printed on the cheque so you would be pretty easy to trace
