@ imc1016, It can be cold in N. Yorkshire, we will be there on Saturday at the 25m Barrack range, I will post some pics if you would like to see them?

Although the UK gun laws are very strict as you can see we are not precluded from owning firearms.

@Garand 1957, thanks for posting the pics of your rifle, never seen a Norwegion capture. Its interesting to see the half moon cut out in the reciever, presumably for the longer 30-06 round? My M1917 has a similar cut out!

It looks like your rifle still has the swastika on there? mine has been centre punched out.

Welcome to MAH by the way, i just noticed its your first post, I hope you like it here and stick around :D

I had a look at one of these almost two months ago at a local gunshop. It was a BYF 41 (I think) but had a laminated stock. It had the notch in the receiver but was chambered in 7.62x51 Nato. It still had the nazi stamps. I went back a month later to have another look and perhaps buy it, but it had been sold. The shop originally had about six of these but they have all gone now. The one I looked at was the last one they had.

Regards

Peter.

Thanks for the welcome :D Yes the notch on top of the reciever ring is for the longer .30-06 round. All the original serial#s match including the stock but the barrel was replaced when the refurb was done in Norway and reads 7.62 M/M. The Swastika was not peened out. Besides the barrel the only other modification they did was the sights. They replaced the front inverted V with a flat top blade and they kind of filed out the rear V to more of a U. It actually makes for a much improved sight picture. Rifle shoots like a dream and is very accurate. No doubt that the Norweigans did the nicest work of all the refurbed K98k capture rifles by keeping all the parts together and only using the nicest examples to rebuild. They did however flat spot the side of the reciever for the "new" serial # and simply line out the old.
