Eoin, I haven't been able to find any numbers on the fore end that tell me anything. Maybe I'm overlooking something. I'll have to take the furniture off again and give it another look. Thanks for your reply.

Robert,
Are you pleased with your Lithgow? After a great deal of indecision I ordered one today. I have nary a No.1 in my collection, and have been on the lookout for one. Only finding overpriced or suspicious examples on the net, the $119 risk from AIM seems worthwhile. At least they're upfront about what they have. I must admit that the 3 No.4's I got from them last summer were a pleasant surprise.

It seems to be all in good shape and the bore is excellent. I figured the bayonet was worth something as part of the deal, if nothing else. What with the weekly hurricane scare I haven't had time to shoot it yet.
Let us know what you get and what you think of it.

I was at the local shop for the Saturday Morning Fun Club and saw a 1921 Lithgow from this batch of imports. Looked so good I put money down on it and will pick it up Monday or Tuesday.
It sports a 1959 Australian FTR and is still wearing it's '59 dated Lithgow barrel. The nosecap, triggerguard and magazine are all Aussie and would seem to be original equipment. The bolt is an Australian replacement, numbered to the rifle.
The forestock is the strap-reinforced Ishaporean "mahogany" and that's probably a good thing---Coachwood being what it is.
The forestock, actually, is the only part that shows any sign of an India sojourn----the rest is pure '50s Australian FTR.
I will put up a picture when I get it cleaned.
