I remember one day setting around a box of M-16 rounds and loading our mags. I think they were on 10 round stripper clips, but my memory is on sabatical.

I know we had some tracer rounds, because we tried to guage the accuricy of the M-16 by following the path of a mag of just tracers. We used a M-16 with a bi-pod for stability, but after about 350 meters the bullets would fly-off on their own. The normal ball rounds were more accurate, but we fired into a free fire zone and 'who wanted to check the target'?

Even FN recognizes the value of magazine tapping. There is also a bit of psychological value to it.

I was watching Bob load 5 rounds in his #5's magazine Thursday.

He carefully loaded it so the rounds went in with the rims in front of the round below and then after the last round was seated, whap, on the heal of his hand.

I guess he has seen me do it so many times he just automatically did it.
