His rifle looks like a cut down SMLE mk. III to me. Note the charger bridge and the remains of a handguard in front of the backsight.

Woftam, Other than sharing English roots, I think it's possible, but not likely. HMM, the pic of Paul Mason show he shares my preference for round specs and a moustache...naw.
