I keep a 12x12 tarp and a small bag of ropes behind the seat of my Ranger along with an Austrian e-tool and a fire kit. Very versital piece of gear, you can sit on them, you can hang them over you, and if it gets really nasty out you can forget the tent and just roll up in the tarp, pack and all.
I tied the tarp over the truck and slept in the bed when the tent started to float one night.
