As you would expect - even .303 brass is considered as Cat 1 military so I can't buy it legally here cos I don't have a Cat1 permit!!

First buy your Rifle and at the moment I can't find ANY in a sensible price range.

Might have to put it off cos the car just came back from having some repairs done and they say I needs a new radiator - 900€ / £700 / $1400

Sorry, for a minute there I forgot you were from Yorkshire

I was at the range in Bordeaux today and got talking to a chap who has a No:4 that was dropped to the resistance in WWII!

I seems that it is matching numbers, with original cleaning kit, sling and bayonet.

He is bringing it next Wednesday for me to take a look at so I am taking my camera and a red sheet to put it on. Might even be able to buy it

So what caliber did this one get turned into?

Caliber is .303 sporting so no cutting work has been done. It appears the the guy who owns it has only shot cast bullets in it so the bore should be pristine!

Don't know if there is an proof of the story, will have to wait and see next Wednesday.
