Thanks, Woftam. I'm sure my note was perfectly clear to me when I wrote it!

Brad,
Strange isn't it how something is perfectly clear at one point and a complete mystery a couple of years down the track ? We always seem to think we've included enough information or that we will always recall instantly what that cryptic reference means.
Anyway I went trawling through the LoC and I have to admit I was wrong.
LoC 10442 31 Jan 1901 - Sling, rifle, G.S. MarkI
A pattern of the above mentioned sling web sling has been sealed to govern future manufacture.
It is especially woven in one length, each end being fitted with a brass catch or hook.
And where I went wrong, plus possibly what your 1905 date refers to -
Loc 12060 13 Nov 1903 Sling, rifle, G.S. MarkI
Alteration to fitting.
In future manufacture of the above mentioned sling, LoC 10442, the brass catch or hook will be 1/2 inch longer and secured to the sling by by two rivets instead of eyelets.
Hail Brad, king of the sling

Oh dear me, but no. I've learned, and, like now corrected what I've picked up over the years from you and the other L-E gurus.
