I had some "practise" ammo in one caliber or another like it before. I think it was 762x54r... Anyway it worked fine in a bolt action as far as extraction went, and didn't kick enough to notice. It was ok...but it was kinda like going swimming with your socks and shoes on. You get wet but... it just isn't right.

I always fancied a Spanish FR7 since i saw one my pal bought, but i have never seen another one since.
I reckon they would make a good cast boolit shooter.

I bought one of the 1916 Mausers from Samco about 2 yrs ago. They were out of them for several years then they got some from somewhere. Yes I got a copy of the article with mine also.
I only shoot 150 gr cast bullets out of mine so far. I fugure max loads for cast bullets would be safe enough.
Also does anyone have trouble with the safety on theirs? When my bolt is cocked, the bolt is not back far enough for the safety to engage in the slot in the rear on firing pin. I will probally never use it but just asking

It took them long enough to unload them all Vern, I got mine from then in October of 99.

I think I'd check that problem out. The safety on mine works fine.

A few of them have been in the sealed bids at Holts but overpriced for condition in my opinion!

I think a lot of stuff is overpriced at Holts and you really do need to view before you bid if there is something you particularly fancy.

Its not just the overpricing but also the charges and commission.
