I am hoping to make an infill piece that will be glued to one side and will will locate on the other with a small pin guide. I decided that this would be the easier way of finishing the grips but it needs to be done last for a perfect fit.

Mostly finished now.
Next job is to drill the holes for the retaining screw and fit a brass piece to retain the head. That's a job for a friend of mine.
Once that is done I will size the piece that will fill below the frame and glue it to one of the grips.
The LH grip is a little larger than the right one. Main reason is that it is comfortable as it is and secondly - they are hand shaped and that's how they turned out!!
I hope to be giving them a final sanding on Monday before they are stained & oiled.

Now you are almost there. Those professional grade gun stock refinishing chemicals should have it looking first rate. Looking forard to the photos of the finished project.

The one thing that keeps coming back is what I was taught at school................Always remove the minimum material and do it slowly
