Woftam, is that because of some Australian gun law or laws? A privilege license restricted storage location kind of thing?

Dave, if you want a scope match that would be a good suggestion, considering I'm probably more blind than you, just what rules would you suggest?

Shooting a .22 match with a scoped rifle is fine with me chaps. It's along time since we have had an internet comp and I think it would interesting to do if we can get enough interest.

Anymore suggestions would be welcome so don't be shy.

Joe ;)

Have a look at this link its a couple of competitions run at my club each year , there may be some ideas that could be adopted , these were originaly taken from the HBSA I believe . All optic equiped rifles go into sniper class regardless of type or age whereas others are classed according to age , service rifle , target rifle or semi auto , the is also a percentage deduction for use of magazine . Probably this will be too indepth for a forum shoot but its worth a read .

Nope, self preservation. I could bring my toys or the wife's luggage but not both. Call me a coward ......

Seriously though, it just came down to simple logistics. Being here for 5 months meant bringing a fair bit of gear and while the Patrol is a big unit you can't bring everything.

I can understand the wisdom of the choice you made Wolftam. I'm made choices like that on many occasions. Not involving guns...but all the same kind of thing in result.

Looks like, so far, we have a suggestion of a muzzle loader contest, a .22 iron sights contest, and a scope mount contest...mentioning .22's again. All further suggestions need to be made by about, or slightly before, this time tomorrow because at such time I'll produce a poll of the choices for potential matches to vote on.

Any suggestion not containing a what, when, how and other important nuts and bolts details I'll probably just make some up to fill in the information not supplied.

I'll be in; there could be some weight categories too, having in mind my Mk III BSA which is weighty to say the least.

Good shooting.... and a good argument for some other caliber of rifle in the contest. :loco:

Here is one that Joseyclosey posted a while ago of one of his "quiet" nights of shooting.

Maybe we need some contest that would have enough odd chance in it to encourage more to enter... Like the BP contest. Or... maybe Mosin Nagants with surplus ammo....or...something else of like nature? Or then again, there could be enough interest in the 22 contest even with some real marksmen likely to be in it from the start.
