I think this should be in the the Newspaper thread Robert.
Are American forces being held back? Seems there was something printed that alleged that American troops would not be in anything other than light defensive combat units until all of the troops that America was going to send had arrived.
Early on this was apparently not altogether untrue. Troops that originally arrived underwent further organization , acclimatization, field training and their first use was in quiet areas to ease them into the broader conflict. Now they were being used more and more offensively as well as defensively.
