Well, hopefully my SMLE is now in Chaterault and should arrive tomorrow at about 11:30 a.m.
I have 5 rounds loaded and ready to try...............( Also 100 cases ready to load BUT first, have your rifle and try a small sample. )


The plan is to go to the range in Merignac for 14:00 and try it out - along with about 10 other rifles. Just to make it feel at home it will be bacon butties all round. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Yes, not sure as to why it is called a butty because there is very little or any butter in it. An all time favourite with the bread fried in the bacon grease to a crispy golden brown and topped with the thinest smear of Marmite.

Sounds good, don't it? Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I gotta go check the fridge!

Butty
Not to be confused with a sandwich, a butty is formed by folding a single slice of buttered bread around whatever takes your fancy and is readily available (i.e. requiring no further preparation). In its purest form a true butty is filled with ingredients, in any combination, from a meal already underway. For example, if you are eating a "Full English" breakfast, you may butter a slice of bread and pile on any one or more of the items on your plate (e.g. egg, sausage, beans, black pudding, bacon, mushrooms). No food is excluded as a potential ingredient of a butty provided it is ready to eat at the time. The all-time favourite though must surely be chips (as known in the UK, french fries elsewhere).

Gorging on a butty is always a more joyful activity than eating a sandwich as it embodies the pleasure of mild gluttony, rather than being a technical exercise in meeting nutritional needs. The contents are selected in a spontaneous fashion and usually involve a certain excess, preferably challenging the structural integrity of the bread and hand control / oral capacity of the consumer. :bigsmile: :bigsmile:

You ought to try a Chicken fajita on a folded tortilla. No butter required. I'll do a food post on it next time we have them just for fun.

Only thing I've occasionally had on a single slice of folded bread is a slice of cheese with a swipe of mustard. When I was a kid, sometimes a folded slice with peanut butter filling.
