Small world Duncan, i was there with 7 LI HSF and i remember some of those faces in your Yorkie team, time to dig out some of my pics methinks

Yep, was there that year too Duncan, we also used to hold our Battalion Skill at Arms on the Catterick ranges.
When i get my scanner sorted out i will post a couple of pics.

Looks like an HSF only meeting was Captain Mainwaring there?

Very far from it! After the first 6 months ( when we got most of our kit )we could deal with any TA unit and a lot of others too. NOBODY EVER got into a KP we were guarding and when we played enemy there were quite a few red faces around.

I ran into 10 Para HSF coy on ex once, seemed happiest having a brew! Must havehad a high proportion of ex regs by their reasonable attitudes!

This is or first CO, Mick Hawley on Ex. Brave Defender at Hull Docks, Sept 85. Yes, he was a midget!!
You will also note that his rifle has no BFA. Being an officer he only carried it, he didn't shoot it. (I seem to think we only had 4 BFA's per platoon anyway then!!)

Another prize, YorkSam 1991. I am 2nd from the left. Our secret weapon, is the one on the right getting his medal. Nicknamed ARKLE he could outrun a speeding bullet. Other teams tried to keep up with him and got to the firing point knackered!!
