Went out to the range today to see how hard it would be to shoot the target. And....it was hard..... for me. Scope rifle, crappy scope and low magnification on a Ruger 10/22, shot all over the place and the iron sights on the bolt action Remington were pretty difficult too. The front bead covered the black circle 25 yards away and holding the rifle steady with one elbow down on a table was still pretty shaky.

I didn't really attempt to shoot a "real" target. Here are a few of my trials. Some of the shots in the middle were aiming for the middle of the paper.

So far, I'm amazed at how good the submitted targets are after I tried it. All of the entered targets would have beat me.

I was surprised how hard I found shooting prone for this , I suppose I have become to used to putting the rifle on a rest . As I said previously I will try with all my rifles if we continue this each month , I think a more medium weight rifle will prove more succesful .
You will have to have a better attempt at it now , Niner .
How are you all shooting this position wise ?

Dave, I was sitting at a bench with my left elbow resting on the bench, left hand under stock and right hand pulling the trigger.

Don't know if we will do this every month. Not that many people ever enter when we try them....... and....... I can't afford to offer a prize that often either.

Niner , thanks for organising this personaly a prize isnt required just doing it for the fun , If others want to have a go each month to save on work we can just post a pic of our target with our own score , just for bragging rights .
See how the others feel about it .

I can't shoot prone any more - too much belly and a bad back means all sorts of problems manifest themselves if I try

As to a monthly competition - maybe a 6 month time-scale with say 4 entries to count. Same targets, 5 rounds per target = 10 rounds per entry.

I'll stump up a prize.

I think maybe a milsurp rifle at 50 or 100 yards with a different target would be a change and more in keeping with the original purpose of the site. Let's let this one ride on until it ends in another ten days and go from there. Hope some more people take an interest in it.

You wouldn't be amazed if you had seen the targets that I DIDN'T send in.......

I was sitting and had my left elbow on the table and the sling tight on my left arm, and medium quality scope. Pulling trigger with right index finger and looking through scope with right eye while wearing durable but handsome denim shorts and colorful yet oh so stylish polo shirt topped by the ever popular two-tone black and OD green baseball cap with 9th Div markings and...... sorry, got carried away.....
My wife has got to quit leaving those fashion magazines laying around....

The idea of a milsurp shoot next time sounds great, let's throw a little variety in there each time.
Would be fun to do a milsurp pistol shoot, but most of the euro guys wouldn't think it much fun.....sorry guys. :(

I was standing in a trench elbows rested, freezing cold in a stiff breeze and I didn't find it any too easy neither.

I would be interested in other comps with different rifles, ranges, targets. I could even do a pistol shoot but the max range available for me would be 15m.

I'm not bothered about prizes, I just think it would be good fun especially if we could get more people to give it a go.
