Probably the entire RAF once this current bunch of clowns have finished!
Seriously, it looks a little like a 1930s Gloster, but the livery seems Scandenavian, so...something by Saab?

I can't get over how much Joe and Vern in particular know about airplanes. I saw this photo in a like string at another site where guys were doing the guess what this is thing. Looks like it was designed by a group on drugs. I did manage to get the name of it. Anybody care to identify it?

Looks like something designed to be dropped from a larger aircraft . . . . . .and the sooner the better

I'm going with the XF-85 Goblin. And yes you were supposed to drop it off a bigger aircraft
and get it back

I find that pretty amazing.

Joe, as usual, is correct.
XF-85 Goblin is correct, woftam.
It would have been amazing if it had worked.
It was designed as a parasite fighter to hang under a Convair B-36 bomber.
The problems were many, it was no match for Soviet fighters, short range, no landing gear, and worst of all it was nearly impossible to get it re-attached to the bomber.
One test pilot almost got killed when when trying to hook back up to the bomber and the landing hook-up piece on the bomber went through his canopy.
It was a bad idea that luckily never went far, only 2 prototypes were built.
Photo - being tested under a B-29, looks very complicated.
Vern.

Woftam was the first. Vern even had followup information. Maybe we should just call this forum the things that fly forum? Amazingly fast reply.
