The Seeadler, mentioned in the above report, was a sailing ship of the clipper kind with also an engine. It was an armed merchant ship converted from a capture. I built a plastic model of it when I was a kid. The captain wrote a book from the ship's log. I had it in paperback years ago...and may still have it in a box in the garage. Prisoners were taken before cargo ships were sunk and it was all very gentlemanly .......relative to WWII.

The Seeadler wasn't very much different from the Civil War Raider Alabama. The biggest difference was modern weaponry and the victim's were often surprised when the ship showed it's true colors.
