If you had nothing to worry about......a hundred years ago..... and you read this in your local paper you would be glad you had a subscription.

Why can't FOX and CNN tell us these important things?

Check that label on the Lunch Tongue. It may be 22 years past it's canning date.

In 1968 we were issued C-rations left over from the Korean War. Not quite the same time interval, but too long. The 1952 dated canned bread could be softened by punching some holes in the cans and heating it to steam it after adding a few drops of water. The 1952 dated canned pork was a crap shoot, literally and figuratively. I spent a miserable day with food poisoning after eating a can of it. We couldn't get a medevac chopper in, and we had to keep moving. I was 'moving' from both ends.

It wasn't much better in Korea; we used to get British field rations one month and US the next, at the end of each month we looked forward to the change.

The US offered variety but not a lot of energy whereas the British rations offered a gut filling feed but not much variety. When not on field rations we lived fairly well and our cooks did a great job with what they had.
